wash guide for linen
Linen
Most of our headbands are made of linen. Linen is a natural fiber made from the flax plant. It's known for its strength, durability, and breathable qualities. For ages, humankind has been weaving natural flax fibres into beautifully durable linens and successfully caring for them without the need for modern cleaning methods, washing machines or strong detergents.
This means that caring for pure linen is much simpler than you might think. It requires no specialist treatment, dries faster than other fabrics, and gets softer with each wash. We see it as a living fabric, because the best linen becomes even more beautiful over time.
how to wash
Linen
Thanks to its natural antibacterial, breathable and moisture-wicking properties, 100% pure linen also stays fresher for longer between washes. But after wearing your headbands a few times, it is of course a must to wash it sometimes, especially after hot and sweaty days.
When it's time to clean your linen headbands, opt for gentle handwashing. Fill a basin with lukewarm water and add a mild detergent suitable for delicate fabrics. Gently agitate the water to create suds. Immerse the headbands in the water and lightly swish them around to remove dirt and oils. Resist the urge to rub, scrub or twist the fabric. If you have stubborn stains, we recommend using ox bile to remove the stain.
Avoid harsh chemicals:
Linen is a natural fiber that can be sensitive to harsh chemicals, so it's best to steer clear of bleach or strong detergents. Instead, choose a gentle, eco-friendly laundry detergent to preserve the integrity of the fabric.
iron with care
Linen has a tendency to wrinkle, but a gentle ironing session can restore its smooth appearance, if you want to. Set your iron to the linen setting and iron the headbands while they are still slightly damp. Place a thin cloth or press cloth over the headbands to protect the fabric from direct heat.
